Chingari crosses 30 million downloads, launches new AR filters

Home-grown short-video sharing platform Chingari has gone past 30 million downloads. The application reached the milestone in three months of its launch.

To mark the occasion, Chingari has launched new Augmented Reality (AR) filters for its users. The company hopes the new filters will help woo young creators and users.

Chingari in its release revealed that the highest percentage of users belonged to the 18-35 age category. It said that it has recorded the highest number of downloads, about 5.6 million, from Hyderabad. It is worth noting that Chingari is available in multiple Indian languages including Bangla, Gujarati, Marathi, Kannada, Punjabi, Malayalam, Tamil, Odia, and Telugu. The platform is also available in English and Spanish.

Chingari said that it has also recorded a surge in users in markets outside India such as the US, Singapore, Vietnam, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Kuwait among others.

Chingari had grown in popularity in India following the ban on TikTok. The application had gained more than 3.5 million downloads in just 24 hours of the ban on TikTok. Apart from Chingari, many new home-grown social networking platforms such as Riposo, Rizzle, Moj, and Trell have emerged.
