Chingari is currently one of the leading TikTok rivals in India. The app has so far garnered over 10 million downloads on Google Play Store. Chingari already lets users earn money based on their video views, and it is now planning to let music composers earn some revenue as well.

The Chingari app has music tracks that users can add to their videos. These are short parts of a song but have the potential to go viral. Chingari will now start paying music composers for their songs that become popular on its app, Business Insider reported. Chingari is also inviting indie musicians to create and share their music on the platform. The company hasn’t shared details on how exactly this will work.

We’ve already seen how songs can go viral on TikTok. It even became a pseudo streaming service for music. Songs like Play Date that actually released years back suddenly gained steam on TikTok and even made it to top global charts. It was only this year that TikTok started paying streaming royalties to musicians.

Seeing how Chingari is becoming hugely popular in India, it can serve as a platform for songs to become popular as well. Chingari currently pays users in the form of points which can be redeemed for money. This is based on the number of views a user gets on their videos. The app currently has over 16 million users according to its co-founder Sumit Ghosh. It plans to reach 100 million users by the end of this month.
