Dating app OkCupid has rolled out a new feature on its platform, one that is of critical importance for everyone. Yes, in the age of Covid-19, when the issue of health has acquired paramount importance, OK Cupid has been updated with the express intention of allowing its users to reveal their Covid-19 vaccination status. OkCupid says that those who do reveal their status get a huge benefit. However, it is not just OkCupid, other social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram too are giving users the option to show whether they have been vaccinated against this dreaded ailment.
OkCupid has rolled out a new profile badge on its platform that shows if a user has been vaccinated or not. The company rolled out an “I’m Vaccinated” profile feature on its platform today to help users identify if a person whom they are interested in has been vaccinated. This also helps them match with like-minded love interests who have taken the jab. It also helps them clarify their expectations from a partner as far as the vaccination status is concerned.
This feature has been rolled out as a result of OkCupid recently undertaking a study, which revealed that there has been a monumental increase in conversations around vaccines on users’ profile bios between March and June this year. The dating platform said that the people who answered ‘Yes’ to the question ‘will you get the Covid-19 vaccine?’ got 25% more likes and resulted in more conversations than the people who said no. Additionally, in its study, the dating platform found out that over 41% of the female users stated that anti-vaxxers are not even a consideration for them as potential partner. The dating platform said that it is expected to result in a 35% increase in match rate with others who are either vaccinated or getting vaccinated soon.

“Clearly, it is the most important thing on people’s minds right now as they try to adjust to a new normal,” OkCupid wrote in a blog post.
Apart from the “I’m Vaccinated badge” the company is also showing medically verified information on its platform to encourage users to get vaccinated. The company is showing information about three vaccines -- Covaxin, Covishield and Sputnik V -- in India in addition to showing details as to how people can get vaccinated and what all precautions users need to take while getting vaccinated.
In the meantime, a massive Covid-19 vaccination drive is going on in India to inoculate the population against the virus. 23.7 crore doses have been administered so far and around 4.56 crore people have been fully vaccinated.
