Disney+ Hotstar user? Your tariff plan set to change; check out the new ₹499, ₹899 and ₹1,499 plans

Disney+ Hotstar has just made some major changes to the tariff plans for the OTT platform in India. The company has introduced new annual prepaid plans that will replace its existing plans going forward. As of now, Disney+ Hotstar offers a free tier and two prepaid annual plans to the users. There is a Disney+ Hotstar VIP plan costing ₹399 annually that offers access to content from within the country along with HD quality video, Dolby 5.1 audio along with the ability to stream content on a single screen. The other is the Disney+ Hotstar Premium plan costing ₹1,499 annually that offers all the content that the company has to offer with 4K quality video, Dolby 5.1 audio and the ability to stream content on two screens. Users can also access the premium content by paying ₹299 per month. But this will change soon.

According to a report by Live Mint, the OTT is offering three new annual subscription plans to the users. These new plans are worth ₹499 per year, ₹899 per year and ₹1,499 per year. These new plans will be effective starting September 1. Here are all the details:

Disney+ Hotstar ₹499 Mobile Plan

This plan costs ₹499 annually. It offers access to all content in HD video quality on a single screen. This plan directly competes with Netflix’s mobile plan.

Disney+ Hotstar Rs. 899 Super Plan

This plan costs ₹899 annually. It offers access to all content in HD video quality on two screens. There is no limitation in terms of the form factor of the devices that can be used.

Disney+ Hotstar Rs. 1,499 Premium Plan

This plan costs ₹1,499 annually. It offers access to all content in 4K video quality on four screens.

With these plans, Disney+ Hotstar is slashing its tiered approach towards providing international content as all these plans offer access to the entire library of content that the OTT platform offers. Instead, it is differentiating the content based on the quality of the video and the number of screens that it is accessible in.
