Tatyana Shishkova, the Kaspersky Labs’ Android malware analyst has now detected the Joker virus in as many as 14 innocent looking Android apps, some of which are currently on Google Play Store. In a series of tweets, the analyst has named the Android apps that have been inserted in these Google Play Store apps that have been infected with a virus. The analyst has even named the Android apps that have been detected and the list of these Joker malware infected apps is published below. Shockingly, Joker malware can get access to your OTPs, money-based subscriptions, SMSs, contact list and other information on your phone.

Talking about the Joker malware, it is one of the most persistent malware which keeps coming back to the Google Play Store apps. It was first detected in 2017 and became the most common choice of cybercriminals to invade the phones of Android users. In 2019, Google had also published a long blog post about its fight with Joker malware.

The Joker malware keeps coming back in new forms on Google Play store apps as the cybercriminals keep changing its coding. Its mission is to steal phone data and users never find out until it is too late.

Some of these apps have already been removed from the Google App Store, as seven of these apps were reported a few days back to be infected by Joker malware. The best way to avoid being the victim of malware, is to check the apps developer and avoid downloading the applications from unknown developers.
