Don't fall for this WhatsApp hacking message, it's fake

WhatsApp is one of the most popular messaging apps in the world. It’s popularity among users also makes it popular among scammers who are constantly looking for new ways to target innocent users. Now, word is that a new scam is targeting WhatsApp users.

According to a report by WABetaInfo, that tracks development in WhatsApp, scammers are targeting users by sending a message that they have been hacked. The screenshot of the app shared by the blog site informs the users that their devices have been hacked.

In one of the messages, the hacker tells the victim, “ I see how your poor body trembles with fear (via Google Translate).” In the following messages, the hacker first informs the user that he now has the access to the victim’s account via WhatsApp, then he tells the WhatsApp user that he has been provided with the access to the user’s phone. In another message, the hacker tells the user that he has collected information about him. This is followed by a big “HACKED” message in the app.

Now, the blog site says that this message isn’t real and that users who get this message have not been hacked. The site further explains users should simply block the number which sends them similar messages or the ones demanding any money.

“If you receive any message like this on WhatsApp, you aren't hacked. It's fake. Please don't panic. And if they ask for money, just ignore, report as spam and block,” the blog site wrote in a report.

Meanwhile, avoid responding to such messages from unknown contacts and block the numbers on WhatsApp that tell you that you have been hacked. Also, don’t share your WhatsApp PIN with anyone if you get a message, even from a friend, asking you to share one.
