Elon Musk leaked email warns Tesla employees to return to work

Here is the full text of the leaked email as found in one of the tweets.

Subject: Remote work is no longer acceptable

Anyone who wishes to do remote work must be in the office for a minimum (and I mean *minimum*) of 40 hours per week or depart Tesla. This is less than we ask of factory workers.

If there are particularly exceptional contributors for whom this is impossible, I will review and approve those exceptions directly.

Moreover, the "office" must be a main Tesla office, not a remote branch office unrelated to the job duties, for example being responsible for Fremont factory human relations, but having your office be in another state.

Thanks, Elon

Musk replies to tweet on the leaked email

While Musk has not commented whether the leaked email is authentic or not, he replied to a tweet seeking clarity on the issue. A user who goes by the username of @WholeMarsBlog said, “hey elon a lot of people are talking about this leaked email, any additional comment to people who think coming into work is an antiquated concept?”

The world’s richest man replied to the tweet, “They should pretend to work somewhere else”.

This is not the first time Musk has spoken against the remote work culture. In May, he made similar comments while praising the Chinese workforce in an interview with the Financial Times. He said, “They won't just be burning the midnight oil. They will be burning the 3 am oil”. Comparing it to US workers, he added, “They won't even leave the factory type of thing, whereas in America people are trying to avoid going to work at all”.
