Facebook Oculus Quest 2 revealed through leaked promotional videos

Facebook’s Oculus Quest 2 VR headset has leaked in two videos that were either accidentally published online on the company’s marketing hub. The two videos show the VR headset along with some key specs.

The videos aren’t available now but you can still watch them on YouTube. The website listed two unveilings of the Oculus Quest 2 for September 16 and 17, as reported by The Verge. This is the second Quest headset from Facebook’s Oculus team, and it will be a successor to the Oculus Quest that launched in 2019.

The new Oculus Quest 2 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon XR2 5G platform for AR and VR. The VR headset comes with 6GB of RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage. The videos also reveal the Oculus Quest 2 VR supports “almost 4K display” with 2K each on both eyes, and it has 50% more pixels than its predecessor. More features on the Oculus Quest 2 include 3D positional audio and controller-free hand tracking.

In comparison to the 2019 Oculus Quest, the new one offers quite a lot of upgrades. Even the strap is said to have been redesigned to make it easier for users to put them on and take them off. The controllers are also supposed to be more comfortable this time. Like the first one, the new Oculus Quest 2 is also compatible with Oculus Link so users can connect it to a PC and play VR games.

Facebook is scheduled to host its AR/VR event on September 16. This time it's called ‘Facebook Connect’ and not ‘Oculus Connect’ but we're expecting an official announcement on the VR headset at this event.
