Facebook’s overhauled UI design to become a default in September

Next month when you open your Facebook account in the desktop browser, you might just take a few seconds catching up with an overhauled look of the entire platform. Yes, the social media giant’s ‘Classic’ look with a familiar Blue bar on top will be going away in September. This announcement comes from Facebook’s updated support page. This shouldn’t come a surprise as the new design was introduced last year during Facebook’s developer conference and initially rolled out to iOS and Android apps. In March this year it reached the web version as an opt-in feature. However, this won’t be an opt-in feature come September.

If you have already opted for the new UI design and plan to switch back to the classic theme, you will be shown a feedback box that clearly states “The classic Facebook experience will no longer be available starting in September. Before the new Facebook.com becomes the default experience, we want to learn more about how we can improve.” This is followed by a feedback question of ‘Are you switching back because of missing features?’.

With the new UI, these will be the changes that you will notice:

-The new desktop site has a cleaner and more streamlined look. The focus of the new look is on making it easier for users to find videos, games and groups.

-The overall look of the redesigned is quite similar to the Facebook app both in terms of design and experience.

-Dark mode is one the biggest and most noticeable changes that users will see in the redesigned website. "The new immersive layout along with Dark Mode makes viewing videos on Watch a great experience," Facebook wrote in a blog post.

-The redesigned website also makes it easier for users to create events, pages, groups and ads on Facebook. Users can now preview a new group that they are starting in real time. They can also see what it looks like on mobile before they create it.
