Facebook wants to help you become a rapper with this app

Facebook’s New Product Experimentation (NPE) team has launched a new app called Bars that offers beats for rappers to create and share their raps. Facebook’s Bars app has been launched in the US on the App Store but it’s currently in closed beta. Interested users can sign up for the app’s waitlist for now.

With Bars, Facebook aims to help up and coming rappers or just anyone who wants to try their hand at rapping. The app provides hundreds of professionally created betas on which you can create 60-second rap videos, according to a report by TechCrunch. Not just that, Bars can also suggest rhymes as you’re writing the lyrics and even suggest audio and visual filters for your video, the report added. There’s even an autotune feature in the app. So Bars has pretty much everything sorted, and you’ll just need to write the lyrics, and of course have good rapping skills.

Bars also has a TikTok-like feed where you can post your rap videos for others to view and also put a “fire” if they like it. You can also save the video to your phone, and share it to other social platforms. The Bars developers have even added a challenge mode where you can freestyle with auto-suggested word cues.

Bars has been developed as “a place for aspiring rappers to create and share their art,” DJ Iyer aka D-Lucks said in a blog post. “I know access to high-priced recording studios and production equipment can be limited for aspiring rappers. On top of that, the global pandemic shut down live performances where we often create and share our work,” DJ Iyer added.

The app is still very limited though with availability only in the US, and that too in closed beta. There’s no word on whether this app will see an expansion to more markets.
