According to a report in the Economic Times, Reliance Jio, Airtel and Vodafone Idea have been asked to suspend internet services in Delhi-NCr region “following a home ministry directive” in the wake of the currently ongoing farmers' protests in the Capital.
Executives of the telcos have confirmed the directive and have said that they are switching to 2G in many areas. In some areas they are also suspending internet services entirely.
As per reports, the directive was issued after clashes broke out between protesting farmers and the police in various parts of the city.
Many people have already been complaining on social media about internet being slow in their areas.
(This is a developing story. We shall be adding more details as and when we get them.)
