Many would argue that at today’s date, Google Maps app already has a semi-dark mode which we always see during the navigation while entering a low-light area. Although it shows a dark shade on the map, most of the areas remain white and not in line with the rest of the look. However, all that might change soon as the firm is now planning to bring an enhanced Dark Mode in the app. This has not been made official yet but is instead found in the APK teardown of the version 10.50 of Google Maps.

As found by 9to5Mac, the teardown reveals several code strings that mention ‘DARK_MODE_SETTING.’ Here are a couple of codes:

In addition to this, several ‘night’ assets were also found in version 10.50.
