Google releases new Chrome version for Apple’s ARM Macs

Apple earlier this month released a new MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and Mac Mini powered by its M1 system-on-chip. Now, Google has released a new version of its Chrome web browser that is tailored as per the requirements of the new Apple Silicon.

Users, who wish to download the customised version of Google Chrome on the new MacBook laptops. To download Chrome on your M1 powered Mac, visit google.com/chrome and click on the Blue “Download” button. Users who are using an M1-powered MacBook, select ‘Mac with Apple chip’ option, else select ‘Mac with Intel chip’ option.

Notably, the Chrome team on Twitter has notified users that the roll-out of the feature has been paused temporarily as the feature has hit a snag. The company in a support page also noted that the version of Chrome made available for download may crash unexpectedly, owing to which the roll-out has been paused. The company said that the roll-out will resume shortly.

The company has also listed a workaround to help users who have already downloaded this update to avoid this issue. If you have downloaded the mentioned version of Chrome on your MacBook, here are the steps that you need to follow to avoid the issue:

Step 1: Open System Preferences.

Step 2: Navigate to Security & Privacy.

Step 3: At the top, select Privacy.

Step 4: From the left, select Bluetooth.

Step 5: Below your approved applications, select add application (+).

Step 6: Select Google Chrome.

Step 7: Restart Chrome.
