Google TV adds voice control

From now on shouting at the TV will become the norm and not something reserved for watching sports matches.

After being rather quiet for the best part of two years since its launch, Google TV has just announced its third major feature overhaul in as many weeks.

Voice
From November 14, users will be able to activate the technology and perform searches purely through the power of their voice. Say what you want to see and it should magically appear, from last week's episode of Homeland to instructional videos on the difference between a half-Windsor and full-Windsor tie knot. Simpler tasks, such as changing the channel, performing internet searches, launching apps or searching content for favorite actors can also be performed by voice command.

PrimeTime app
An integrated and intuitive way to browse over 100,0000 films and TV series on Google Play even when users are already watching something. It also keeps track of preferences so that it can suggest shows and records recent activity so users know which channels and which series they've been following and how far into a season they are.

Seamless YouTube
An updated app allows users to search and find something on YouTube via their computer or android device and then automatically watch it on their TV with a single click.

These new features are all set to roll out to different Google TVs and set-top boxes before the end of the year, starting with LG devices over the next few weeks.
