It can be known that WhatsApp banned over 23.28 lakh Indian accounts in the month of August 2022. This means that the number of accounts banned in September is more. Also, the accounts have been banned using the abuse detection approach, which also includes action taken in relation to negative feedback received from users via the app's 'Report' feature.

"In addition to responding to and actioning on user complaints through the grievance channel, WhatsApp also deploys tools and resources to prevent harmful behavior on the platform. We are particularly focused on prevention because we believe it is much better to stop harmful activity from happening in the first place than to detect it after harm has occurred," the company explained.

However, if you think that your WhatsApp account has been banned or suspended without you violating the app's terms then you can appeal to revoke the ban. Here are the steps you can follow for the same:

How to revoke the ban on WhatsApp for Android

Step 1:

When you try to log into a banned WhatsApp account, there will be an option to contact WhatsApp Support right below the message which informs you that your account has been banned. You will have to click on the 'Support' option.

Step 2:

Once you click on the support option, the Contact Support page will open, here you will have to type  a message and add screenshots in support. However, you need to know that adding screenshots is optional. Then click on Next.

Step 3:

After this an email page will open, where you will have to ask for the help.

Step 4:

After this WhatsApp will look into the case and your account may be restored if it finds out that their systems flagged your account by mistake. However, if WhatsApp confirms that you have violated their Terms of Service, your account will not be unbanned.
