Huawei followed up the launch of their flagship phone, P9, with a virtual reality (VR) headset for the device and last year's P8.
The Huawei VR is a direct competitor to the Samsung Gear VR with a trackpad on the side. The phone screen doubles up as the display for the VR headset and since it is locked in, the trackpad on the side can be used as controls. You can't wear your glasses in the headset, but the adjustable lens can accommodate corrections for myopia up to -7. The phones also offer blue light filter feature built into the device so that eyes are comfortable during prolonged usage.
According to reports, "At launch, Huawei VR will offer over 4,000 free movies (presumably only a fraction of these are VR videos) and over 40 free games, along with over 350 panoramic images and over 150 panoramic tours. It's obviously still early days as Huawei skipped the price and date, so we'll just have to keep an eye out for a future announcement."
