Hyderabad to get Apple’s first offshore technology development centre

It seems like Apple Store isn't the only facility Apple plans to open in India. According to a report by Zdnet, the first offshore technology development centre at Hyderbad is in the works.

Following Google and Microsoft's footsteps, Apple is showing greater interest in the Indian customer with plans to set up a 2,50,000 square feet technology development centre at the Tishmna Speyer's WaveRock facility in Hyderabad's IT corridor.

The facility is expected to open in June. It is expected to be operating in full swing by the end of 2016 and create 4,500 jobs.

"It's a very positive development as Apple has not looked at cities only in India, but across many places in Europe and other parts of the world. Their decision to have the facility in Hyderabad is a strong endorsement of the city as a major IT hub in the country," Jayesh Ranjan, Secretary to IT department in the state of Telangana, told ZDNet.
