India bans Chinese apps: Here are the shopping, beauty apps you may want to uninstall

The Indian government has just banned 59 Chinese apps including popular apps like TikTok, Clash of Kings etc. The Ministry of Information Technology (Meity) released a statement with the list of all the apps that have been banned as they pose a threat to the country.

They (the apps) are engaged in activities which are prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, the defence of the country and to the security of state and public order, the Meity release said.

The release also says that all these 59 apps have security issues related to data collection and privacy.

How to uninstall these apps

Uninstalling these apps is rather simple. You can do it from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store or you can do it directly from the home screen where the app widget is.

To delete these apps from the Play Store, open the Play Store app, click on the hamburger menu on the left side on top, go to ‘My apps and games’.

Now, you will see a list of all the apps you have on your phone. You can open each app individually and click on uninstall. This will delete the app from your phone.

Another way to delete these apps is to long-press on the widget, this will give two options for Android phones - App info and Pause app. Click on App info, you will see an uninstall button right there.

For iPhones, you can long press on the app widget from the home screen and you get an option to delete the app - it’s very simple.

Shopping apps like Myntra, Ajio, Koovs etc can all be used to shop. True, you will not get killer deals like you do on Shein, but all shopping platforms online have great sales and discounts that you can avail.
