Instagram Live now supports up to 3 guests in India

Instagram now lets users in India broadcast live videos with up to three people. Called ‘Live Rooms’, Instagram first started testing this feature in India, and it is also one of the first countries for the official rollout. Instagram is rolling this out in Indonesia as well.

Instagram Live currently supports only two members at the same time. With the new feature, users can add another person to their Instagram Live. This feature was tested out with a few creators including Shereen Bharwani, Manav Chhabra and Rohina Anand Khira. Instagram expanding audience support for live broadcasts comes at a time when the platform has been witnessing one of the highest spikes in usage.

Earlier this year in April just days after the lockdown started in India, Instagram Live witnessed a 60% increase in views on a week-on-week basis. Creators, artists and celebrities took to Instagram Live to connect with their fans and audiences.

Adding a third guest on Instagram Live is pretty simple, and it works the same way as before. If you’re unaware of this feature you can follow these steps to start an Instagram Live and add guests.

Swipe right to open the Instagram camera, or tap on the ‘+’ icon below.

Choose ‘Live’ from the list of options available.

Add a title by using the menu on the left side. You can go live without one too.

Then tap the circular button to go live.

To add a guest, tap the camera/Rooms icon.

You can choose from people that have requested to join your live or search for them.

Then just tap on the guest’s handle to add them to your live.

Instagram has started rolling out this feature, and it will reach all users in India soon. There's no word on when this feature will make it to other markets.
