Intel Core i9-10850K spotted on Geekbench: A cheaper option for those looking for 10 cores

The 10-Core Comet Lake-S chip on the core i9-10900K will set you back by well over $500, but if you are looking to spend less, a cheaper option might be on the way. A Geekbench entry mentions that the Core-i9-10850K is in the works and it sounds pretty similar to the flagship SoC.

Shared by tipster Tum_Apisak on Twitter, the tweet has the Geekbench result for the Core i9-10850K. 

If this tip is true, the chip will come with the same 10-core/20-thread configuration as the Core i9-10900K along with 20MB of L3 cache and 256LB of l2 cache per core. The Thermal Design Power (TDP) should be around 125W.

The Core i9-10850K clocked a single-core score of 6244 and a multi-core score of 37794. This is pretty close to what the Core i9-10900K (with disabled iGPU) clocked.

The difference between the Core i9-10850K and the Core i9-10900K is the clock speeds. The Core i9-10850K’s base clock speed is 3.6 GHz, which is 100 MHz slower than the Core i9-10900K. It can be boosted up to 5.18 GHz whereas as the Core i9-10900K can get a 5.3 GHz with Thermal Velocity Boost (TVB). The Core i9-10850K does not come with a TVB feature.

The Core i9-10850K might be an OEM-only chip but if it hits the retail market it should be about $30 to $50 cheaper than the 10-Core Comet Lake-S CPU. If it is launched as a consumer product it will be Intel’s response to AMD’s 3,600XT, 3800XT and 3900XT parts.
