Niti Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant is all praises for JioMeet, the new video conferencing app launched by Reliance Industries. Kant tweeted about JioMeet on Saturday night and called it “better than Zoom” and said that it will “go places”.
Kant also called the new app a “major technological disruptor” adding that this app will go places in these challenging times.
Announced earlier this year, JioMeet was rolled out to all users on Monday. This new video conferencing app comes with unlimited free calling and allows 100 users on a video call at one time and a host of other features like Zoom.
JioMeet is available across platforms and here’s how you can download it. In case you need to know more details about the app, here’s a list.
As Kant indicated, JioMeet’s launch has been timed well given that India just banned 59 Chinese apps recently and has also been pushing its ‘Vocal for local’ agenda.
The Indian government has also announced the Digital India AatmaNirbhar Bharat App Innovation Challenge for Indian tech entrepreneurs and startups yesterday. Through this app challenge the government will not only promote Indian apps that are already being used by people but also help developers create new apps.
