A few months back, WhatsApp had finally announced the debut of emoji reactions on its app. Initially, it was rolled out with a set of six emojis, but WhatsApp recently expanded the ability to react to the messages with many more emojis. Well, there is no doubt, WhatsApp is a dynamic platform, where new features and upgrades are constantly being tested and rolled out. Now, it seems there is something more coming for emoji reactions and it is set to change the messaging experience.
WABetaInfo, the WhatsApp updates trackers, revealed in its latest report that WhatsApp is testing reaction previews as part of the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.2.16.6 version. What will it do? The new WhatsApp reaction previews feature will show a text preview whenever a message gets a reaction from others.
The WABetaInfo report also shared a glimpse of the upcoming feature in a screenshot. “A text preview shows up when you receive a reaction in a specific chat. In this case, we reacted to a message by using the green heart emoji and a text preview showed up in the chats list,” WABetaInfo mentioned. The upcoming message reaction will work for both personal chats as well as group chats.
There's a catch though. Unfortunately, there will be no option to disable it, the report confirmed. Even if you disable “reaction notifications” within WhatsApp Settings, you will still be able to see the emoji reaction previews.
However, you should know that this feature is currently available to some beta testers only, and there is no confirmation when it will be released for more users. Well, WABetaInfo says that there will be more activations of the feature in the future.
Besides this, there is much talk around a new feature for WhatsApp status. A WABetaInfo report revealed that WhatsApp is expected to allow users to add voice notes on Status updates along with photo videos or GIFs. It will be end-to-end encrypted like other images and videos shared on WhatsApp status.
