Microsoft makes Teams calling free for up to 300 users

Microsoft is trying to make itself more competitive with Zoom by introducing a new feature in its Teams platform. And this one can be called as one of the company’s biggest push in recent times. So, what’s the feature? All-day video calling option, which is also free of cost. This comes as a part of Teams’ friends and family features for the desktop client and the web client. This lets you create a call with up to 300 members for unlimited minutes, something you can’t do on Zoom (at least for free).

What’s more is that you won’t need any Microsoft Account or the Microsoft Teams app to join the call. It is possible to join via the web browser. You can also watch up to 49 members in a gallery view during the call in the particular mode.

This announcement comes shortly after Zoom said it is lifting the 40-minute barrier for some time. “As a thank you to our customers, we will be lifting the 40-minute limit for all meetings globally from midnight ET on Nov. 26 through 6 a.m. ET on Nov. 27 so your family gatherings don't get cut short,” Zoom wrote in a message on Twitter.

It is applicable on calls made via its free tier globally. This means that irrespective of the fact whether users live in the USA or not or if they celebrate this festival or not, they will be able to enjoy the benefits of this concession. This is also true for users in India.
