Millions blame Google for SMS issue on Android phones; Here’s what happened

If you are an Android user and have been text messaging your friends and family members since past few days, you must have noticed some issues over lags while sending those messages. You are not alone because many other Android users with phones from different manufacturers are experiencing the same issue. Some are not able to send or receive SMS messages.

Many have even talked about it on Reddit and OnePlus forums while others have mentioned about it in Google Play Store.

As noted by Android Central, the issue seems to go back to November 23 when Google's Carrier Services app received an update. Some of the users have mentioned that deleting this app from the smartphone can temporarily fix the SMS problem. However, we recommend you not to do that since the Carrier Services app is also responsible for several background tasks. This means that if you delete the app, it might lead to some new issues, which you haven't experienced before.

What's more is that the app supports the latest features that you get an Android Messages app. So, in case you are a RCS chat user, removing the app may also lead to disabling it.

On the other hand, Google has not yet addressed this issue or has given any public statement on this matter. However, it did update the app earlier today, with the changelog mentioning “Bug fixes and Stability improvements.”

Talking about chatting apps, Google recently launched a new smartphone app that aims to make communicating easier for people with speech and motor difficulties. Look to Speak uses people’s eyes to select phrases from their phone and speak it out loud. You can get it right away from Play Store.
