Amazon Pay on Wednesday announced a partnership with Delhi Metro. As a part of this partnership, customers will now be able to recharge their Delhi Metro Smart Cards using Amazon Pay.
The company said that customers can recharge their Delhi Metro Smart Cards by simply using the Amazon Pay tab on their Amazon shopping app or website. To use this feature, customers will have to click on the ‘Metro Recharge’ option under the Amazon Pay tab and follow some simple steps. After entering their metro card number, they can choose any amount ranging between ₹100 and ₹2,000 to recharge their smart cards.
Amazon said that after successful payment, users need to tap the card at the automatic vending machine (AVM) at any Delhi Metro station and select “Top-Up” to add the balance to their card.
“As part of our commitment to our customers, we are constantly innovating and creating new experiences to make digital payments seamless across a variety of use cases. Commute is a very important aspect of the daily lives of our customers and Delhi Metro is the lifeline for millions of daily commuters in Delhi-NCR. By enabling our customers to recharge their Delhi Metro cards in a contactless manner, we aim to make their lives more convenient, safe, cashless and secure.” said Mahendra Nerurkar, CEO, Amazon Pay.
Notably, the development comes after the company announced a partnership with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited, which enables Amazon customers in India to book and pay for their HP gas cylinder refills using Amazon Pay.
Customers can go to the Amazon India website or the Amazon app to book the cylinder and pay using any digital mode such as UPI, credit cards, debit cards and net-banking.
