OnePlus 7 Pro: 5 new features to watch out for

OnePlus will launch its next flagship series on May 14 globally, and in India. The Chinese company will unveil OnePlus 7, OnePlus 7 Pro and its 5G smartphone as well.

The new OnePlus 7 series has been spun in numerous leaks and reports over the past few weeks. OnePlus CEO Pete Lau also confirmed key details of the high-end flagship smartphone, OnePlus 7 Pro. This would be the first time OnePlus is launching two smartphones unlike its usual product cycle of the 'T' version.

OnePlus 7 Pro, the premium variant of the two will undoubtedly be the highlight of the event. Accumulating details shared by Lau himself, and leaks of course, here's how the new OnePlus flagship will be an interesting one.

Display

Lau in his interview with The Verge stressed on the display of OnePlus 7 Pro saying that he was "stunned" on seeing it for the first time. He also said that OnePlus 7 Pro will be "super-smooth and very crisp". Adding to past leaks, OnePlus 7 Pro is expected to feature a 6.64-inch QHD+ Super AMOLED curved display with a high refresh rate of 90Hz.

Design

In addition to an upgraded display, OnePlus 7 Pro will most likely flaunt a design change. Leaked renders suggest a pop-up selfie camera on the OnePlus 7 Pro which allows for an edge-to-edge display without any notch. OnePlus embraced the dewdrop styled notch last year with the OnePlus 6T series. OnePlus 7, on the other hand is expected to feature the same design as its predecessor.

Camera

OnePlus smartphones have had good cameras, but smartphone photography has never been its prowess. With the OnePlus 7 Pro, the company is expected to introduce a triple-camera setup. This combination would feature a 48-megapixel primary camera paired with a telephoto lens and ultra-wide angle lens.

Battery

OnePlus will bump the battery on the new flagship up to 4,000mAh battery. The new smartphone will also come with 30W Warp Charge technology which debuted with the OnePlus 6T McLaren edition. OnePlus promises a day's charge in just 20 minutes with Warp Charging.

Performance

As is the highlight of OnePlus flagship smartphones, OnePlus 7 Pro will also come with the fastest Qualcomm processor. On the OnePlus 7 Pro, users can expect the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor coupled with possibly up to 10GB of RAM and 256GB of built-in storage. OnePlus 7 Pro will also have a 5G variant.
