SpaceX owned Starlink has started hiring personnel in India! The Elon Musk led firm is now looking for senior level executives in India in a bid to expand operations and probably readying the Starlink services for the country. There are only two positions open currently at SpaceX for the Starlink project.
One of them is for the Director of Rural Transformation, India, whereas the other role pertains to that of an Executive Assistant. Interested candidates can apply for these job roles directly from the SpaceX Careers page in India.
“I am pleased to announce that we are now officially looking for two rockstars to join the Indian Subsidiary,” said Sanjay Bhardwaj, Starlink Country Director India at SpaceX. “The executive assistant position is not a chief of staff position and the Director Rural Transformation has to be technical as well. Another small step towards catalyzing and accelerating transformation starting with Rural India. As and when there are other open positions they will appear on the jobs board. I do not expect any more till we are commercially licensed,” added Bhardwaj.
A few months ago, SpaceX registered Starlink Satellite Communications Private Limited as a local Indian entity. The locally registered entity could easily apply for government licenses before it starts delivering its satellite internet services.
For those in the unknown, Starlink is the satellite broadband internet project from SpaceX. The idea is to provide access to high-speed Internet services in remote areas where regular cell networks are unavailable. For the project, SpaceX has deployed a couple of satellites into the low-Earth orbit and will add a lot more of those to aid a strong internet connectivity around the globe.
Similar to DTH TV connections, subscribers will need to have a dish antenna and the required equipment, all of which is part of the installation kit provided by Starlink. Starlink will test the services initially with schools, providing 100 devices to schools in and around Delhi NCR. Eventually, the company will expand its trial services across more rural areas.
Starlink also hosted a pre-order session earlier this year, wherein customers had to pay close to ₹7,000 in order to secure a Starlink connection.
