Spotify earlier this week announced it is revamping the home screen on Android and iOS. It is now rolling out a new look for the desktop and web player. The redesign will start rolling out today, and it will reach all users globally in the coming weeks.
The new Spotify look on desktop and web features a “new clean design, more controls, and a great new foundation” for listeners. Spotify said it spent months on tests, research and feedback from users on updating the interface for its desktop and web players. The biggest feature in the new update is the ability for Spotify Premium users to download songs on the desktop app. This is one feature that has been highly requested by users so it should come as good news. It's already available on the Spotify web app.
Coming to the changes, the search tool is now located on the left side of the navigation page. It was earlier kept on top of the home screen. A search bar has been added to playlists as well. Spotify is also letting users write descriptions, upload images, drag and drop tracks into existing playlists.

Spotify has also added top artists and tracks to the listeners’ profile pages. The new update also lets listeners start a radio session for any song or artist radio by tapping on the “...” menu. Spotify users in India will also be able to access synced lyrics on the web player. The desktop app already supports synced lyrics but this too will be refreshed along with the updated design.
