Spotify reveals what Indians listened to this summer

Spotify has revealed what Indians have been listening to this summer. It’s quite interesting since people have been mostly indoors due to the pandemic and glued to their devices. The latest data is from the period between June 1 and August 15.

The most listened to song on Spotify this summer was Shayad by Arijit Singh and Pritam. Two more tracks by Arijit Singh made it to the top 5 list, and these include Khariyat and Tujhe Kitna Chahne Lage which features Mithoon as well. Only two English songs made it to the top 5 list and that’s Play Date by Melanie Martinez grabbing the second spot, and Jason Derulo’s Savage Love which took the fourth spot. All thanks to TikTok!

Some other international hits that made it to the top 20 list include Blinding Lights by The Weeknd, Rockstar by DaBaby and Roddy Ricch, Maroon 5’ Memories and Senorita by Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes. Rockstar, Blinding Lights and Roses were the top three songs globally on Spotify. The list mostly saw Bollywood hits like Makhna, Genda Phool and Malang. But Liggi by Ritviz also made it to the top 20 list.

Spotify also shared the top podcasts streamed on its platform by Indian users. The top podcast was The Ranveer Show followed by TED Talks Daily, Harry Potter At Home, and Bhaskar Bose. The new podcast by Michelle Obama also made it to the top 5 podcasts in India. Globally, The Michelle Obama Podcast was the most popular this summer.
