Facebook and NASA have beat SpaceX and Blue Origin in the race to take people to Mars. At least visually, through a screen. The team at NASA has stitched together photographs taken by the Curiosity Rover to form a 360 degree view of the surface on Mars.
Mark Zuckerberg posted the video on Facebook which you can drag around with the mouse to get as close to being on the planet as humanly possible. The post has gathered nearly 50,000 within hours of being posted. Images of Mars' surface have been shared, but viewing it in 360 degrees, gives you complete control of the scene as you can choose the angle or frame you want to take in the view from.
Besides the surface of Mars, the photo also gives you a close-up of the Mars Curiosity rover that was used to take all the pictures used to stich together this video.
