Setting up a password that is easy to remember is something most users do. After all, with the abundance of exciting and useful apps available, it becomes difficult to have a unique and strong password for every login. But remember, an easy password for you to remember also means an easy job for a hacker to crack it within a few seconds. Or, maybe just one! The latest shocking findings have just been published by the team at NordPass which revealed that millions of internet users are at risk of having their online accounts hacked because of the use of weak passwords. Some of them are so weak that they can be cracked within a second!

A huge number of people are using passwords such as "123456", "qwerty" and even "password", which are very prone to being cracked in a jiffy. If you are using any of these weak passwords, then you must change them right now. Have a look at the weakest passwords list.

Not just these numerical passwords, but NordPass research has also revealed that people use their names for codes along with swear words as their passwords. The word 'dolphin' ranked number one among animal-related passwords in several countries.

NordPass has suggested changing using a combination that's difficult to crack.

Tips to make passwords strong and unique

  1. The firm confirmed that a complex password is one that has at least 12 characters. Longer passwords take longer to figure out, so hackers looking for a quick gain might be put off.
  2. The password should be a varied combination of upper and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols.
  3. Also, make sure that you have a different password for different accounts.
  4. Most importantly, keep changing your passwords every 90 days.
