TikTok to give you one-tap access to streaming app Resso

Music streaming app Resso launched in India earlier this year. At that point in time, the company had said that they had no plans of integrating with TikTok even though the format for both the apps had quite a few similarities.

However, according to reports, there are new plans in the pipeline. TikTok usually shows the link to the original soundtrack that has been used in the clip in the ticker below the video, but now it will also include a shortcut to Resso if the app has that song available on it.

If you tap on this shortcut you will be directed to Resso where you can listen to the full song.

Resso will show you a back button so you can get back to TikTok once you are done listening to the song.

This integration has something for both app, but Resso has more to gain from it. Resso is relatively new in India and not a lot of TikTok users have it. In which case, TikTok users will be directed to the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store so they can download the app.

India is TikTok’s biggest market in the world with more than 200 million users, so if atleast a few of them download Resso, that’s a win for Resso’s parent company - ByteDance.

If you have checked out the Resso app you will know that you can listen to songs on the app accompanied by videos made by the users using their own content or content from the app itself. In that way, the format looks similar to the videos on TikTok.

“As a platform built on innovation, our constant focus is to work towards enhancing the in-app experience of our users. We are currently in the beta testing phase and are early in the process to share any further details,” a TikTok spokesperson said. 

As far as music is concerned, ByteDance is looking to leverage Resso rather than having users listen to songs on Apple Music, Spotify or YouTube. That way, both of ByteDance’s apps thrive.

TikTok has been dealing with a spot of trouble in India with its user ratings plummeting recently as a result of a fallout between TikTokers and YouTubers, particularly a video made by CarryMinati.
