Twitter seems to be making its platform even more useful by labeling certain tweets as ‘hacked materials’ warning. Reported first by Mashable, the microblogging website added the ‘hacked materials’ warning label to a tweet that was posted by a news website called The Grayzone. In the warning label, it mentions “These materials may have been obtained through hacking.”
The firm has also introduced a pop-up to the same tweet, warning users about the hacking material while retweeting and has included a link, which takes them to the company's ‘distribution of hacked materials’ policy.
In the tweet, where the company has labeled it as hacked materials, it is mentioned that the story is based on hacked and leaked documents that showed the participation of BBC and Reuters in the program created by the UK Government. Some of the users on Twitter shared the link on their accounts and were also given the same warning label.

However, this is not the only tweet that comes with this kind of label. A separate tweet that included a link of an Italian outlet also showed a hacked materials warning label. The tweet included a link regarding Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine. Another tweet showing a music video of English singer Rick Astley got the same label. Twitter, however, is yet to respond or comment on this new warning label feature.
This piece of news comes a few days after Reuters reported that Twitter will soon add labels to identify more state-affiliated accounts, including world leaders' personal accounts, to give users more context for geopolitical conversations on the platform.
