Twitter is putting ads where you can see them -- in the middle of conversations

Twitter is a compelling place, especially if you like having heated debates and stimulating in-depth conversations. The social media platform, for years, has been a safe haven for people who love to have lengthy discussions. Lately, this social media platform has been expanding its avenues to bring in more revenue on its platform. One of the ways Twitter is trying to do that is by introducing ads on its platform.

However, the micro-blogging platform isn’t introducing ads in users’ news feeds. Instead, it is introducing advertisements right where Twitter users can see them -- in the middle of the conversations.

Twitter's revenue product lead, Bruce Falck, in a post on Twitter said that the micro-blogging platform has started testing a new feature that introduces ads on the platform globally. These ads have started appearing in the company’s Android and iOS-based app in the middle of the conversations for a select bunch of users.

But these ads don’t appear just anywhere within an ongoing conversation. The Twitter executive explained that select users will see ads after the first, third or eighth reply under a tweet. “Starting today, we’re trying something different and testing a new ad format in Tweet conversations. If you’re a part of this test (which is global; on iOS & Android only), you’ll see ads after the first, third or eighth reply under a Tweet,” Falck wrote in his post.

Falck, in the same post, also shared a GIF, giving us a demonstration of how these ads would look like. To give you a brief idea if you haven’t started seeing these ads already, they look like someone has shared a link on the micro-blogging platform rather than an ad. It seems more of a gentle nudge than a wider declaration.

As far as availability is concerned, while we aren’t seeing these ads yet, Twitter has already started testing them globally. So, it is possible that the company will start rolling it out globally soon.
