According to the report, China has blocked Twitter and other foreign social networking sites as a way to silence anti-government views, which in turn have allowed domestic services like Sina Weibo, which is called as 'China's Twitter,' to gain popularity.

Despite the strict censorship, US Internet companies are still showing interest in China and its over 600 million netizens, with LinkedIn being the latest to launch its new Chinese language site after deciding to comply with the nation's demands on censorship.
