Twitter is testing new media features on its Android and iOS apps. The new features make it possible to see the full image on your Twitter timeline, and also support for 4K images.
Twitter Support announced the new features saying that it will be testing them over the next few weeks. Twitter is making it possible for images to appear in full view, and not in half like it does presently. So the image you tweeted will look exactly like how it does in the tweet composer. At present, you need to tap on the tweet to see the full image as it shows only a preview of it on the timeline. This feature makes good sense as it wouldn’t leave the tweet hanging with the image only partly shown. The new media feature is being tested on Twitter’s Android and iOS apps.
The second feature in testing is the ability to upload high-res images on Twitter. Users who are part of this test will be able to upload and view 4K images on Android and iOS. This feature will be available in the settings menu under “Data usage.” Here, select “high quality image uploads” and then choose mobile data & Wi-Fi or only Wi-Fi. By default, this will be set to never.
Twitter hasn’t specified when exactly the feature will be available for testing by users. There’s also no word on whether these two features will be made official for all users. Both features do seem helpful though, and it can create a richer experience on Twitter.
