Twitter Topics launched in India, available in English and Hindi

Twitter has finally launched Topics in India, a feature it announced last year in November. Twitter users can follow certain Topics that they’re interested in, and see more content from the Topics chosen.

Twitter Topics in India are available in English and Hindi. Topics in Hindi will be visible in Devanagari script, and in Hindi speech typed in the Roman alphabet. Topics will appear in Hindi only when the device language is set to Hindi. Twitter has highlighted some of the Topics available in Hindi, and these include Agra (आगरा), Patna (पटना) and Pune (पुणे), general interests like Animals (जानवर), Horoscope (राशिफल), Poetry (कविता) and Technology (प्रौद्योगिकी), Sports (खेल).

Topics in India have been customised to interests relevant to Indian users, Twitter said. Users can browse through different Topics, and Twitter will also show suggestions in the timeline and the search bar. Topic suggestions will also be shown based on what is the most relevant to users.

How to follow Topics on Twitter

1. Open the Twitter app and click on the menu button.

2. Select Topics from the list.

3. You’ll see a list of suggested Topics here.

4Scroll down and select ‘More Topics’.

5. Browse through the list of Topics or search for one.

Topics are available on broader subjects but there are many subtopics available as well. For example, under Anime and Manga, there’s Animation, Tokusatsu and voice actors. Even under animation there are many more topics. Topics that you follow will appear in the following list. You can unfollow these Topics anytime you want. There’s also a not interested tab for Topics you wish to not see on your timeline.
