WhatsApp brings this awesome feature to groups: How to make it work

WhatsApp has introduced a new feature that allows you to join a group video call directly from the chat. Users will now see a notification for ongoing group calls in a WhatsApp group and simply tap the “Join” button. This will take them directly into the group call, whether video or audio. Group call notifications will also show the name of the group instead of names of the participants.

“We are making it easier to connect spontaneously with your groups. Join ongoing calls with your groups anytime, effortlessly, and directly from the chat view with one click," said WhatsApp on its blog.

Join WhatsApp group calls at anytime

The feature is available on both Android and iOS devices as we speak. Here are the steps you can follow to join a group call in a WhatsApp group.

-Head over to the WhatsApp group you desire.

- If there’s a video call ongoing, you will get an option to join it directly from the top bar.

- Once you join, you can see a preview of your self along with the options to either Join the call or Ignore it.

- This window also shows all the active participants in the video chat listed below.

- You can also drop out of a video call and join in again using the same method.

“Today we are enhancing the experience of the joinable call through integration to group chats. So, now group calls are contextual to your group chats and you can effortlessly join them right from the chat tab. With group calling growing in popularity, integrating joinable calls gives WhatsApp users a new spontaneous way to connect with their family and friends groups,” WhatsApp said in a statement.
