WhatsApp for iOS gets document sharing, media saving options

WhatsApp has rolled out new features for its iOS users. One of them is the option to save incoming media files such as images and videos for specific contacts or groups.

The update allows iOS users to automatically save incoming media files from a particular group or chat. There is also a new Default (OFF) option where users can choose the 'Never' option if they do not want incoming media files get automatically saved. The feature essentially allows users to save space for media files they don't really care about. Earlier these media files were automatically saved to their phone's memory.

Besides, users can also turn on this option for chats and groups they feel are important, where people might be sharing media files which one would actually want to have on their phone. This way, iOS users will now have a lot more control over incoming media files on WhatsApp. Earlier, it was more of an all or nothing approach where users could either save incoming media files for all chats/groups or not at all.

Some of the other new features rolled out with the update include the option to receive missed call alerts within the chat window itself. Additionally, iOS users will also be notified of an incoming message even while they're chatting, allowing them to respond easily. These features are not available on Android yet, though the company has confirmed that they'll soon be introduced for Android users as well.

Finally, iOS users also get the ability to share PDFs in WhatsApp just like on Android.
