WhatsApp is sending ToS alert to users again: Here’s why

WhatsApp, earlier this year, had started sending in-app alerts to its users across the globe informing them about the change in its Terms of Service (ToS) and privacy policy. Now, word is that the company has started sending ToS alerts to its users again.

WABetaInfo, the blog that tracks development in WhatsApp, reports that WhatsApp has started sending in-app alerts to its users informing them about its new terms of service. The company, however, is showing this alert only to WhatsApp users who haven’t accepted ist new ToS already. This means that if you had accepted its ToS back in February when the company first started sending these alerts, you will not be asked to accept them again. This is true for both iOS and Android users.

The screenshot shared by the publication shows that the company is alerting users that its new terms of service and its updated privacy policy will come into effect on May 15, prior to which they need to accept the changed terms in order to continue using the updated terms.

Additionally, the company is clarifying that despite the change, all chats on WhatsApp will remain end-to-end encrypted and while it is making it easier for users to chat with businesses, part of which might be shared with Facebook owing to the separate terms of service that businesses have, it is making it optional for users to opt into this service.

Additionally, it is giving users more information as to how businesses manage their chats and the changes that the company is making to its platform.
