WhatsApp has rolled out a new update for iPhone users on its iOS beta app. The new update brings some features that WhatsApp has been working on for some time. It also contains bug fixes and improvements that will soon be available to WhatsApp’s public version for iPhone users.
The latest WhatsApp beta 2.20.100 update has been submitted on the app’s TestFlight page. As noted by WABetaInfo, the new features that are visible on this update are not available for public beta users. These features are still in development and there’s no word on when WhatsApp plans to release them. In this update there are a couple of developments on WhatsApp.
WhatsApp is working on improving its payments service for specific countries like Spain. This is interesting because WhatsApp hasn’t launched payments in this country yet. But the company has echoed its interest in expanding payments to more countries soon. WhatsApp has also rewritten the section where you can see media shared with a contact. This is to improve the loading speeds for images, videos and GIFs.
WhatsApp’s expiring messages feature also made an appearance in this update. WABetaInfo said that this feature is still being worked on but there’s no release date yet. WhatsApp has also added a new tone for when you terminate a call, and a new ringtone for group calls. Speaking of which, WhatsApp will soon let users join missed group calls if it’s still on.
Other features in this update include a new security notice for when a new contact uses a new device to log in. It’s also improving the ability to launch WhatsApp when the device has low storage.
