WhatsApp this week: Disappearing messages, new sticker pack and more

WhatsApp is arguably one of the most popular messaging applications in the world. Every week, reports detail tons of features and improvements that are coming to the app. As a trend, this week too we got to know about a bunch of new features that are in the works.

For starters, WhatsApp has shared new details about the disappearing messages feature that has been in the works for long. Now, WhatsApp says that the feature when released will not only be available in the company’s Android and iOS-based apps but also in its KaiOS based app and its desktop app. The company also says once enabled, new messages sent in an individual or group chat will get deleted after seven days.

In addition to this, WhatsApp is also getting two new animated sticker packs. First is Tonton Friends, and the other is called Baby Shark. Both these sticker packs are available for download in the company’s Android and iOS based apps.

Next in line is a feature called advanced wallpapers. As per a report by WABetaInfo, the Facebook-owned messaging app has released the advanced wallpapers feature in its iOS beta app. This feature allows users to set a different wallpaper for each chat. Users can go to Contact or Group Info > Wallpaper & Sound > choose a new wallpaper and edit its opacity to set a wallpaper in a chat. The blog site says that users can select from a bunch of 32 new bright wallpapers, 30 new dark wallpapers and solid colors as the background.

Lastly, a new report suggests that WhatsApp is also planning to up the security in its platform. The update, which is being released to the Android beta app, says that end-to-end encryption will also cover the conversations happening between users and various businesses. Additionally, business users will get to decide if they want to continue using WhatApp or switch to Facebook for storing their chats.
