The World Health Organisation has released its Covid-19 Updates app on Google’s Play Store nearly eight months after taking it down from the platform.

The company had released its ‘WHO Covid-19 Updates’ app on the Google Play Store back in April this year. But the global health body pulled it down soon after saying that the released app was supposed to be a private beta version. Now, nearly eight months later, the app is finally ready shipped to Android users around the world.

You can download the “WHO Covid-19 Updates” app by heading over to the Play Store and hitting the Download button. The app weighs just 8.8MBs and it works with phones running on Android 4.1 and above. It has garnered a little over 1,000 downloads so far.

In its initial public release, the WHO Covid-19 Updates app offers users information both from the experts at the WHO and from the organization’s regional partners. The app description available on the Play Store says that the app will help users in knowing the symptoms of Covid-19, and learning how to protect themselves and their community from the pandemic.

It will also give them real-time updates based on their location. “We’re working hard to partner with regional experts in new locations. When you register for notifications, we’ll update you when we have new information about your region,” the app says in its description.

Additionally, the app will help users in identifying ways in which they can help out during these critical times.
