Microsoft is working extremely hard to justify the hype it has created around Windows 11 since its launch back in June, 2021. And the only way that is possible is to keep marching out new and exciting features and changes to the operating software. So, not a day goes by that we do not hear about a new and empowering tool or feature that is going to be rolled out in Windows 11, the Windows 10 successor. Yes, Microsoft Windows Insider channel is humming with activity and providing everyone a glimpse of what is to be expected when the OS is rolled out to everyone later this year. One of the Windows 11 features to hit the headlines, that Microsoft has confirmed, is native support for its video conferencing platform, Teams. Now, a new report talks about another Teams feature that is expected in Windows 11.

Windows Latest reports that Microsoft is testing a revamped version of its video conferencing platform called Microsoft Teams 2.0 for its desktop platform in the beta version of the OS. This new version of Microsoft Team desktop is based on Edge WebView2 and it uses Chromium rendering engine in addition to web technologies such as HTML, CSS and JavaScript.

The report also states that the Redmond, Washington-based tech giant is also testing a new feature called ‘Quoted Replies’ for Teams 2.0. This feature will enable users to respond to specific messages and quote their own messages while responding in a text conversation. Windows Central reports that as of now, Microsoft Teams’ quoted message feature works only when using a personal account. However, this is likely to change in the coming weeks. Furthermore, reports quoting a roadmap by Microsoft suggest that this new feature is expected to arrive as soon as this month. We’ll keep an eye out for a word by Microsoft.

Separately, Microsoft recently released updates to its Calendar, Calculator, Snipping Tool and Mail apps bringing a host of new updates to these platforms. The company said that it is completely redesigning its Snipping Tool app, which now includes new visuals with added functionality like the WIN + SHIFT + S keyboard shortcut from Snip and Sketch and richer editing. It also announced a facelift for its Calculator app, which will now let users analyse equations on a graph, and evaluate algebra, trigonometry, and complex math expressions. The company also said that these four apps will now come with support for dark mode.
