World Emoji Day: Telegram highlights its recently launched animated emojis

Today is ‘World Emoji Day’ and Telegram is doing its bit by highlighting some of its features related to emojis and how it has become a new form of expressing the mood besides text and media. The WhatsApp rival claims it was among the first to bring animated stickers. WhatsApp too has launched its animated stickers for all. Telegram says it has a dedicated sticker directory where users can search for stickers from a carousel of 20,000, which have been developed over the past 5 years. As for animated emojis, the firm has hundreds of them in addition to the regular versions.

Telegram messenger adds that it also has a faster screen loading time for animated characters. “Moreover, it provides a faster loading time on screen for these animated creatures in comparison to other instant messenger platforms. This overall delivers a seamless conversational experience with enhanced graphics to the users while chatting,” adds the firm.

While the firm introduced a set of animated emojis earlier this year, it added a few more during the pandemic. These came in addition to stickers related to coronavirus safety awareness. It plans to add some more emojis, stickers and GIFs on its platform in the coming updates.

Meanwhile, Apple has previewed 13 new emojis that will be coming to the iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and the Mac later this year. The whole list of new emojis include - Dodo, Nesting Dolls, Piñata, Tamale, Pinched Fingers, Boomerang, Ninja, Coin, Anatomical Heart, Beaver, Transgender Symbol, Bubble Tea and Lungs. In total about 117 new emojis are going to be added to devices this year including people hugging, a disguised face and a smiling face with a tear.
