Instagram is loaded with a bunch of interesting features for its users to share with friends including reels, photos, stories and much more. Still, there are a few shortcomings that make it difficult to handle this social media platform. One of these is the reposting of other users' posts, reels, and videos. Twitter is much easier in this regard, all you need to do is just find the tweet or post that you want to repost, and do it with a single tap. That’s all. But in the case of Instagram, if you want to share the same post on your profile, then first of all you will need to find the perfect third-party app, which can help do the rest of the job. It is quite time-consuming.

But it seems like Instagram is now gearing up to end this hectic process while giving users the ability to repost other users’ posts and reels, the social media company confirmed to TechCrunch. The report further confirms that Instagram hasn’t released the repost feature publicly yet as it plans to begin testing it with select users soon.

How Instagram repost feature will work

The new Instagram repost feature was first spotted by social media consultant Matt Navarra, who shared the screenshots depicting the new features on his Twitter handle. The screenshots suggest that the upcoming feature will likely add a new tab to all the posts and reels that users have reshared on their accounts. This new tab will find its place along with the existing posts, reels, and tagged photo tabs on the profile.

“We’re exploring the ability to reshare posts in Feed — similar to how you can reshare in Stories — so people can share what resonates with them, and so original creators are credited for their work. We plan to test this soon with a small number of people,” TechCrunch quoted a spokesperson from Meta.

So far, you can reshare the posts or reels on your stories, but this upcoming Instagram repost feature will let you bring those posts to your profile feed now.
