Xiaomi and Realme have dominated the smartphone market in October 2021. Based on a recent research report from Counterpoint Research, the month of October 2021 has seen these two rivals dominate the top 2 positions. Xiaomi's share stood at 20 percent of the market whereas Realme followed at a close second with a share of 18 percent.
Counterpoint's data shows Xiaomi dominating the market share but with a big asterisk. Xiaomi's 20 percent share includes the 2.7 percent share from Poco, which is considered as an independent brand. Realme follows it with a whole share of 18 percent. Samsung sat at third position with a share of 16 percent whereas Vivo came in at fourth with a share of 13 percent.
The October 2021 period also saw the Flipkart Big Billion Days sale and Amazon Great Indian Festival Sale , during which most smartphones were offered at highly discounted prices and with offers. Note that both Xiaomi and Realme phones in the sub- ₹20,000 space were selling with notable discounts.
The last phone that came from Realme was the Realme GT Neo 2, which sits under the Realme GT flagship model. Going forward, the company is expected to launch the Realme 9 series, which is rumoured to include four models: Realme 9, Realme 9 Pro, Realme 9 Pro+, and Realme 9i. This time, Realme is expected to include a high-end model with a Snapdragon 800-series chip.
On the other hand, Xiaomi is expected to release a couple of new models. After the recently launched Redmi Note 11T 5G, the company is expected to launch the Xiaomi 11i and Xiaomi 11i Hypercharge, both of which are expected to based on the Redmi Note 11 Pro variants from China. A Redmi Note 11 4G is also expected to come out within December.
