Xiaomi, the Chinese smartphone company that recently announced plans to manufacture its devices in India, has confirmed that the ₹ 6,999 Redmi 2 Prime will be the first device it will make in the country.
The Redmi 2 Prime, which will be available online on Xiaomi's official India website, as well as Amazon, Flipkart and Snapdeal, is a better version of the company's original Redmi 2.
Unlike the Redmi 2, which features 1 GB RAM and 8 GB internal storage, the Redmi 2 Prime comes with 2 GB RAM and a more acceptable 16 GB storage.
The rest of the specifications, which include a 4.7-inch 1280 x 720 display and a 1.2 GHz Snapdragon 410 processor remain the same. There is also a microSD card slot, which can expand the phone's memory up to 32 GB.
