Zoom has added new features to its video calling interface like fun filters, background noise cancellation, reactions, light correction controls etc. These features seem to have been primarily introduced to make video calls more fun and make yourself also look more presentable.
With the new Zoom filters, you can spout a unicorn horn, wear an eye patch like a pirate or wear fun googles to make those calls with friends more fun.
There are new colour filters that can change the overall colour tone of the video as well.
To keep things professional you can turn both these filters off as needed.
Zoom has introduced more granular controls over touch-ups and light adjustments on video so as users can make their videos look brighter and more well-lit. There are options to change the brightness of the panel and smoothen your skin as well so you look as presentable as you want.
Noise suppressions on video calls have been improved so you can better block out noises like kids, pets and the noise of fans from the background when you go on call. At low settings, something background music is allowed in to make an online date or yoga classes more fun and at high suppression, you get distraction-free audio for important calls and presentations.
Zoom will now let you react to what people are saying on calls with reactions like celebrate, laugh or a heart.
Now, when you share your PowerPoint or Keynote presentations on a virtual background, the video will overlay on the slides - ‘weathercaster style’. You can move your video to any part of the screen and resize it as needed.
All these new features are available on Zoom 5.2 so you just need to update your app if you can’t see them yet.
