Zoom's latest update required to continue video meetings

Zoom has a new update that everyone is required to download and install for future video meetings. Starting May 30, all users should be on Zoom 5.0 update and above to start or join any meeting.

The latest Zoom update enables GCM encryption to all meetings. Users who have updated Zoom will see a green encryption shield in the upper left hand corner indicating that the meeting is encrypted. This security icon will also display more features for Zoom meeting hosts to unlock/lock meetings, enable/disable waiting rooms, enable/disable in-meeting chat, enable/disable participant renaming, enable/disable screen sharing, remove a participant and report a participant.

“Upgrade to the latest Zoom Rooms software in your Zoom Admin Portal for both your room computer and your Zoom Rooms Controller as soon as you can. On May 30, Zoom will cut over all accounts to GCM encryption,” Zoom said in a blog post.

Zoom has to be updated on all three platforms including iOS, Android and Windows. These are the versions Zoom has to be updated to - iOS: 4.3.33237.0924, Android: 4.3.33237.0925 and Windows: 4.3.13234.0925.

Zoom also said that it will add enhanced encryption between Zoom Rooms Controller and Zoom Rooms on June 30. More features coming to Zoom include displaying non-video participants via their avatar by default. Call history will also be turned off by default.
